Fine for a 3pm kick off. Less convincing on the first tee. The Scotland story is genuinely interesting. Heritage deserves better than 100% polyester.

The methodology
How We Score

Every TCE score is built on five criteria. Here's exactly what we're looking at — and what each score range means.

Style

This is the one that stops the scroll. Traditional, heritage, modern, avant-garde — we don't care which direction you go as long as you go somewhere. We're here for outfits that have something to say. Intention, coherence, and a look that makes the rest of the field feel underdressed.

10
Straight from the fairway to the front row
8–9
First tee and everyone noticed
5–7
Fine. Perfectly, forgettably fine
1–4
Style department on holiday
Quality

Quality has a look. The weight of the fabric, the finish on the seams, the way it sits on the body — these things show up whether you're holding the garment or not. We've looked at enough golf clothing to know the difference. The brands that care make it obvious. The ones that don't make that obvious too.

10
Heirloom material. Your grandkids will wear this
8–9
Built properly. Earns every penny
5–7
Does the job. Quietly, inoffensively
1–4
Back to the drawing board
Fit

The greatest outfit falls apart in the wrong cut. Silhouette, proportion, the way a collar sits — we're scoring on whether this works on a real body, not just a rail. A bad fit is visible from the other side of the fairway.

10
Looks custom. Moves like a second skin
8–9
Cut with genuine thought and care
5–7
Functional. Not going to start a conversation
1–4
Missed the brief entirely
Cost

Style shouldn't require a second mortgage. We score on value — not cheapness. A brand delivering real quality at a fair price will always beat one selling a logo at a luxury markup. Your wallet deserves better. So does your wardrobe.

10
Outstanding value. Frankly should cost more
8–9
Fair, honest, no buyer's remorse
5–7
Premium price, average justification
1–4
Costs a lot. Justifies very little
On Trend

Golf fashion is having a moment and the best brands aren't just keeping up — they're setting the pace. We score on cultural awareness, relevance, and whether this brand actually understands where the game is going.

10
The rest of the industry is taking notes
8–9
Ahead of the clubhouse curve
5–7
Keeping pace, playing it very safe
1–4
Missed the memo. And the moment
Our honest take
Every score is our view. Disagree?

We're not industry experts — we're golf fashion obsessives with an opinion and a scoring system. Tell us in the comments if you agree, disagree, or think we got it completely wrong. Every score is our view. We want yours too.
